How Many Colors Can I Source for Dyes or Paints, Right from our Garden?

How Many Colors Can I Source for Dyes or Paints, Right from our Garden?

Here are the first 9:

Within like 100 feet I collected 8 plants and a bug.
Some of them - printed on silk - turned out different colors than you’d expect. For example, from the hot-red Tithonia (Mexican Sunflower) you’d think to get a fiery red. But look at the photo - it turned almost invisible!
What about the pink Cosmos? She prints a purplish blue.
The lineup from 1-9 counting from the top left corner down,
how they printed, and the source:
1. Hibiscus: flower center only printed: blue
*
2. Pink Cosmos: dark blue
*
3. Mexican sunflower: where did that red go?
*
4. Yellow Marigold: brown
*
5. Hollyleaf Buckthorn: gorgeous orange
*
6. Cochineal (the bug): pinks and purples
*
7. Sulphur Cosmos: deep orange-red
*
8. Sage (herb): sage!
*
9. Snake weed (Rabbitbrush): yellow
